## Common Roofing Questions

### Can I just patch my roof instead of replacing it?

Sometimes, yes. If the damage is in one spot and the rest of the roof is sound, a repair is the smart call and we’ll tell you that. But once rust is widespread, fixings are failing or you’ve had more than one leak, patching is just paying to chase the next problem. Money spent repairing a roof at the end of its life is money you don’t get back when it needs replacing anyway.

### How long can I leave a leak before it causes damage?

Not as long as most people think. Water usually gets into insulation, ceilings and the timber purlins well before you see a stain inside. Every wet week adds to the chance of rot, mould and a bigger repair bill. If you’ve spotted a leak, get it looked at sooner rather than later. Our inspection is free and comes with photos, so you’ll know exactly what’s going on up there.

### What materials do you use for roof replacements?

We specialise in Colorsteel and GAF asphalt shingles, known for their durability and aesthetic appeal. Both products come with manufacturer warranties and are well-suited to New Zealand conditions.

### Do you handle commercial roofing projects?

Yes, we work on commercial roofing projects for schools, warehouses, retail sites, light industrial buildings and body-corporate properties across Auckland.

### How often should I inspect my roof?

It's recommended to inspect your roof annually, especially after harsh weather, to catch issues early. We also offer Roof Condition Reports for a professional assessment.

### Do you handle asbestos roof replacement?

Yes, we are licensed to safely remove and replace asbestos roofs, following all New Zealand safety protocols and regulations.

### How long does a typical roof replacement take?

Roof replacement typically takes 2 to 5 days, depending on the size and complexity of the project. We'll give you a specific timeframe in your quote.

### Do you provide roofing services for new builds?

Yes, we install high-quality roofs for new construction projects, ensuring a durable and well-finished result that meets all NZ building code requirements.

### What warranty do I get?

Every roof we install comes with a 10-year workmanship guarantee, plus the manufacturer’s material warranty. We’re Colorsteel Approved Installers and Licensed Building Practitioners, with 950+ roofing projects completed across Auckland since 2014.

### How long do Colorsteel roofs last?

Colorsteel roofs can last 40 to 50 years with proper maintenance, offering excellent durability in New Zealand's varied climate.

### What is the lifespan of GAF asphalt shingles?

GAF asphalt shingles last around 20 to 30 years, depending on environmental conditions and maintenance.

### How do I choose between Colorsteel and asphalt shingles?

It depends on your budget, aesthetic preference, and durability needs. Colorsteel is known for longevity and a modern appearance, while asphalt shingles offer a more traditional look and are generally more affordable. We can help you choose the best option for your property.

### What are the signs that my roof needs repair?

Leaks, missing or cracked shingles, sagging, mold growth, and visible rust are common indicators that your roof may need attention.

### Can you work on steep or complex roof designs?

Yes, our team is experienced with all types of roofs, including steep pitches and complex architectural designs.

### What should I expect during the roof replacement process?

We start with a thorough inspection, followed by removal of the old roofing material, installation of new materials, and a final quality inspection. We keep the site clean and tidy throughout.

### What if you find more damage once the old roof is off?

It’s common on older Auckland homes, especially villas. Rotten purlins are repaired or replaced before the new roof goes on, because a new roof is only as good as what it’s fixed to. We photograph anything we find and talk it through with you before going ahead.

### Are you insured and licensed for roof replacement work?

Yes, we are fully licensed, insured, and comply with all local regulations and New Zealand building standards.

### Can you help me with roofing insurance claims?

Yes, we can assist with insurance claims by providing detailed reports and estimates for your roofing needs.

### Do you offer finance?

Yes. Up to 36 months interest free through Q Mastercard, and you can combine cash and finance however suits you. Apply online and you’ll usually have a decision within 2 working days. Lending criteria, a $55 establishment fee and T&Cs apply. Minimum payments of 3% monthly or $10. Standard rate of 28.95% p.a. applies after the interest free period.

### What areas do you service?

We provide roofing services across Auckland and surrounding regions, catering to homeowners and businesses alike.

### How much does a roof replacement cost?

Costs vary depending on materials, roof size, and complexity. Contact us for a free, detailed quote tailored to your property.

### Do I have to pay everything upfront?

No. You pay in three stages: one to lock in your install date, one when materials are ordered, and the last after our QA check and your final walkover. You don’t pay the final stage until you’ve seen the finished roof.

### Can I stay in my home during the roof replacement?

In most cases, yes. Roof replacement is noisy but it is generally safe to remain in your home throughout the process.

### I’m thinking of selling. Is it worth replacing the roof first?

An ageing roof is one of the first things building inspectors flag, and it gives buyers a reason to push your price down. A new roof with a 10-year workmanship guarantee and material warranty becomes a selling point instead of a negotiation point.
